Smoothie King Change A Meal Challenge

One of my new year’s resolutions is to improve my overall total body strength and health. This means eating less crap and more nutritious items. But it also means not skipping meals and making sure to eat when I am hungry – like after an intensive weight lifting workout. I have a tendency to do a really good workout and then not eat for 2-3 hours – which is NOT what you are supposed to do.

You know I love smoothies if you read my blog or look at my Instagram. Smoothies can be a meal replacement or an after workout recovery drink. If I am out and about looking for a smoothie, Smoothie King is my goto place. I am lucky enough to have one near my office and gym. It even has a drive thru for leg days or those cold winter days when you just don’t want to get out of the car.

Their menu breaks down the different categories of smoothies that they have. I found the staff at my Smoothie King extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I told them what I liked/didn’t like and they helped me decide. It was truly a hard decision as many of them sounded right up my alley. For me anything with chocolate or peanut butter or banana or strawberry.

You are not just limited by what’s on the menu. Check out all these extras and enhancers. I wished after the fact that I had added either banana or peanut butter to my smoothie but there is always next time! The only thing they need to add to that list is spinach – although you can have kale added to your smoothie.

This is the 20 oz Lean1® Chocolate that I had for breakfast. It was delicious and satisfied me until lunch time (which many times some of my own smoothies don’t).

  1. I don’t have one near me. Closest is about 25 miles away. Must say that any that combine peanut butter and chocolate are my fave, but I know they’re not the best in the calorie and nutrition department! They have a great food menu, but I always want a smoothie when I go since I don’t get there often. It’s actually a bike ride destination in the summer and a couple girls and I make the round trip on bikes for a good 50 mile bike ride! (I usually don’t feel bad about the PB/choc smoothie that day! lol!)

    • i am really fortunate to have a smoothie king so nearby. it is truly between my office and gym. peanut butter and chocolate is my favorite combo as well. i try not to do that too often. i do wish i had thrown maybe some strawberries or kale or something into mine. but there is always next time!
