My SmartyPants Morning Routine (& Giveaway)

My SmartyPants Morning Routine

If you follow my Facebook page, you know I post lots of links about morning routines. I think having a morning routine is necessary to starting your day on the right foot. I typically get up at 5AM each weekday and have to be at work at 8AM.

My morning healthy checklist:

    Drink water! I always grab some water first thing when I get up. Sometimes with lemon, sometimes without. Many say you should start your day with warm water and lemon, but I prefer ice-cold water. I try to drink 8=16 oz before I leave for work.
    Take my vitamins! I grab my SmartyPants Women’s complete vitamins as well as my Biotin and Iron supplements. I think everyone should take a vitamin and/or supplements based on their health and lifestyle.
    Put on my Young Living oils! I have a routine of 7 oils that I apply each morning before I head out the door to work.
    Brush my teeth! I think this is kind of a given though.

My morning “me” checklist:

    Shower (and shampoo)! Always a must. I try to wash my hair every other day though.
    Makeup! I don’t typically wear a ton of makeup, but I do wear some.
    Hair! Drying my hair takes quite a bit of time since it is so thick (hence trying to wash every other day).
    Find a cute outfit! The outfits are definitely easier when I am doing the Get Your Pretty On Style Challenges. Winter is pretty much leggings or jeans, boots, and a cute top. I am ready for Spring/Summer to arrive.
    Plan my day! Review my online calendar and bullet journal to see what is on tap for the day. Make sure I have my workout or something fun scheduled.
    Pack food/drinks for the office! I will typically pack my HydroFlask full of ice (we don’t have an ice machine at work), a small water bottle (for the gym), my smoothie (if that is what’s for breakfast), and some healthy snacks and/or lunch with me.
    Listen to BigLife devotional! I am part of a mentoring group called Big Life. Each morning at 7AM there is a 10-15 minute devotional. My goal is to be dressed and ready by 7AM so I can listen to this before heading downstairs and finishing my todos.

My blog/business morning checklist:

    Finish and publish blog post! I try to at least get the post 75% finished the night before. This gives me time for one last review before I hit publish and then cross promote on all my social media platforms.
    Read other’s blogs! I have a huge list of blogs that I read using Feedly (a reader service). I typically go through all the blogs and share some of them (or schedule them to share at a later date).
    Check my personal and work emails! Some will tell you not to do this, but personally I like to know if I am going to be dealing with any fires for the day. Besides, sometimes you get good emails as well!
    Review my blog/business goals and act on them! I am trying to accomplish 3 things each day that I know will be good for my blog/business but that I really don’t want to do.
    Answer comments on social media! I check all my social media accounts and see if I need to reply to anything.

What I would like to add to my morning routine:

  • Yoga and/or stretching for 15 minutes! While I am a morning person, I have never been a morning exerciser as it makes me ill. I would like to add in some light yoga or stretching before I head out to work.

  1. I love routine as well! I always start with water with lemon, but recently I’ve changed that to warm water with lemon and a splash of apple cider vinegar. It’s actually tasty and gives me extra zing in the morning! πŸ™‚

  2. Those vitamins are so tasty! πŸ˜€ My morning routine is almost nonexistent these days because I much value sleep over pretty much anything else (I have to be out the door by 4:45 a.m. ._.). I love my Hydroflask too! I fill it with hot water though because the hospital’s always so cold!

  3. I attempt to get up pretty early and run…but most days are slow moving and full of distractions (such as dishes and laundry)… On a good day, I get chores and a run in before I need to make getting ready for work a priority πŸ™‚

  4. I cherish the morning! Basically my morning is wake up, meditate/journal, lemon water, coffee and computer, dressed for work and leave by 6:15. It’s the same on the weekend except I exchange going to work with yoga class. #morningperson

  5. That’s quite the morning routine you have there! I LOVE getting s*** done in the mornings! My days differ so much though. Sometimes I’m off to teach yoga at 7am, sometimes I’m headed to the mountain at 5:30am, sometimes I sleep til 8 and have a leisurely breakfast with my book. I love routine, but apparently it doesn’t love me. πŸ˜‰
