My Big Announcement . . .

Hello and Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Check out my Super Shopping Saturday. Yesterday was spent cleaning, organizing, computer work, etc. I am trying to get everything in order for my surgery Friday. I want everything in place by Tuesday so that Wednesday can be a relaxing evening with hubby. Thursday is a 31 party AND the Breaking Dawn premiere.

Okay, so I have been mentioning a big announcement, but not giving any hints or anything. In place of our usual Monday Motivation, I think it is time for the big reveal.

IIN Health Coach

I am studying to be a Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. This is a one year program that is essentially a year in college. There is studying, homework, and tests.

I heard of IIN almost two years ago and have been considering it from the moment I heard about it. Over Labor Day, I signed up and I started classes October 29th. I love that the program is all online and flexible enough to fit any schedule. There are also students from all over the world. In my coaching circle (small group), there was a lady from Australia and one from New Zealand. I have found a peer group of 4 other ladies with similar goals. IIN encourages study groups, peer coaching, etc. I have already met so many fabulous people. Obviously I am very early in my training (starting week 3 today).

Mainly I want to work with women in their 30s and above. My first client will be myself. I can begin taking clients officially in April (6 months into the program). One thing I really love about this training is that it explores all different types of “dietary theories” and stresses the fact that everyone is different. It encourages you to experiment and find what works best for you.

Almost half of the curriculum is preparing you to start your own business. Whether you want to do this full-time or part-time, they provide the resources to help get you ready. My plan is to do this to supplement my income and because helping people is something I enjoy. Thanks to technology I will be able to help people in person, through Skype, or via email, etc. Another thing they provide? A website. So, I have a new website for you to check out:

It is very much a work in process. Do you like the color scheme? Logo? If you want to check our their book for free, there is a link at the top of the page. My co-worker helped me come up with the name. I have had both positive and negatives comments from the people I surveyed about it. It would be ridiculous of me to NOT put my SEO, SEM, internet marketing training to use at this time, so I went with it.

Another item I like is their “food” pyramid:

IIN Pyramid

They realize that what makes for a healthy person doesn’t just include the food they eat, but their relationships, career, etc. And, of course, ACTIVITY! Let’s not forget activity. And water!

There are over 1500 students in the session that started October 29th. HUGE. I had no idea how popular IIN is. There are people in every stage of their life with all kinds of backgrounds. Some have been in a health field for years, others are just starting. There are people in their early 20s and late 60s. Tons of different countries are represented.

I am very excited about this new adventure. I do love learning and I will be sharing with you as we go. This blog will NOT become all about IIN though. That’s what the new website will be for.

There it is. My big announcement. Hope you are excited for me.

Any big announcements? What’s on your agenda for the week?

  2. I love your blog! It’s going to be an awesome year! I can’t wait to see what else you have in store! Much success!

  3. Congratulations! I just posted a similar big announcement, but I haven’t officially started on the path to mine yet. I’m aiming to become a Wellness Coach to integrate my love for health and fitness with my love for counseling. I am so happy that there are so many integrated approaches to helping people be their best. πŸ™‚ You’re going to be great!

  4. How exciting!! I would love to hear more about IIH from someone whose attending. I have my degree in psychology and really want to do holistic counseling but there are no programs where I live. I actually looked into IIH about 6 months ago but wasn’t sure what to think. Good luck and I’m so excited for you!

  5. I’m so glad that they too recognize that there’s no one eating pattern ( I hate to use the word diet) that fits all. You have to find what works for YOU! I’ve been reading a lot up on Blood typing because it explores into our DNA that makes us all so unique and explains why our bodies respond so differently to each other in terms of the foods we eat. It might be interesting for you to explore. Good luck on your new journey!

  6. I am definitely excited for you. Once my kids are done with school, I might follow in your footsteps, as IN sounds so intriguing and healthful.

  7. Good Luck! I’ll be heading back to school here soon again as well! Onto my masters for education! πŸ™‚
