In my 2015 goals post, I mentioned that one of my goals is to walk 12 5Ks during 2015. Well guess what? I will have a huge dent in my goal come May. Yesterday while we were snowed in, hubby and I looked at the upcoming races and got scheduled for quite a few. My current race schedule is below.
Registered For or Completed
January 1st – New Year’s Day 5K – DONE
February 14th – Chocolate Lover’s 5K – DONE
March 7th – Be Great Run 8K – walking a 2 mile (not part of the 12, but listing it)
March 15th – St. Patrick’s Day 5K (pizza and beer served after!)
March 21st – Knoxville Superheroes 5K (trail race – currently working on my super hero costume)
March 29th – Knoxville Covenant 5K (finishes on the 50 yard line of Neyland Stadium)
April 11th – Color Me Rad 5K (one of my favorite 5Ks to do)
April 25th – Dogwood Classic 5K
May 3rd – Suck It Up Buttercup 5K (yes mainly doing this one for the name)
That’s 8 of the 12 there (not counting the 2 mile walk I am doing)
Later in the Year – Yearly Traditions
July 3rd – Fireball Classic 5K (the night before the 4th)
November 26th – AutumnFest 5K (Thanksgiving morning)
December 6th – Leftover Run 5K
This will make 11. I only have to find at least 1 more and I will have met my goal.
What do I need to do now? GET WALKING! We have had so much snow/ice that I haven’t made it to the gym or our walking trail in quite a while. I am going to be creating a plan of attack from now til May. This will be the most I have done at once in quite a while (before my two leg surgeries actually). While I would love to set a PR during one race, I will be choosy about which one I try for. Quite possibly the Dogwood Classic 5K. It is fairly flat (for Knoxville) and gives me plenty of training time.
