KTC Expo 5K with a Personal Record on the Side

A beautiful morning in East Tennessee for a 5K (albeit a little foggy). Participated in the KTC Expo 10000 and 5K (I did the 5K part). Approximately 1000 people in this race.

It was chip timed start and finish (which I like for these big races). I started at the very back (since I am a walker) and just moved at my own pace. I walk with my iphone and headphones. I have a 5K playlist (one day I will share with you) and I hit shuffle and go!

I felt every step of this one. For some reason, just seemed hard to me. Quite a few hills (always fun). While I thought I was moving slower than normal, I actually:

SET A PERSONAL RECORD!!! Woohoo!!! 49:50 for a 5K (pure walking, no jogging or running)!

Very proud of myself. Treated myself to a deluxe pedicure after. Look what I discovered:

Poor toes

Both of my toenails are bruised (right one is much worse). This had to have been when I hiked Frozen Head and my toes hurt for a week afterward. Had no idea they looked like this. Good thing I like red toes – covers it right up. No french pedicures for me this season it appears.

Other items of note today: bought a macbook pro (YEAH) and got my car washed (YEAH).

Off to dinner and a movie (hopefully).

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
