Hello and Happy Hump Day! Only two more work days left this week, because I have Friday OFF. I am very much looking forward to a 3-day weekend. This will be my first 3-day weekend of the year and I am READY for it. I actually have no plans for the three days except to relax and have fun. I am thinking a pedicure may happen at some point. And hopefully one (or two) yoga classes.

I met with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for April 19th. WOOHOO!!! I am very excited. It will be great to have both legs feeling good while I walk. It will be June before he lets me walk for exercise again. Then it will be two months before I can do another 5K, but I already have one scheduled for August 10th. The timing is perfect.
Speaking of 5Ks, one of my goals for 2013 is to walk 13 5Ks. I am not 100% sure this is going to happen at this point. I just completed my third 5K and I have one more before surgery. That will be 4. That will mean I need to do 9 5Ks from August – December. That’s two a month and doable, but we will have to wait and see.
Now for the Jelly Bean Virtual 5K Recap! I joined in on the fun over at runwithjess.com. This was my first ever virtual race and to be honest, the reason I signed up was the BLING! The rules were to complete the race (there were multiple distances you could choose from) sometime between March 20 – 31. I decided that yesterday would be the perfect time, so I packed my bag for Planet Fitness before I left home.
I will say I was thrilled to see so many people at Planet Fitness. Normally when I go there are 20-30 people tops. I would say there were about 60 or more there yesterday evening.
I asked one of the staff members to take my picture with the Jelly Bean bib before the race. After the picture I selected my treadmill and hopped on. My goal was to finish the 5K. I hopped on the treadmill with my iPhone and my Jaybird Bluebuds X bluetooth headphones. I owe you a review of these fabulous CORDLESS headphones. Needless to say I LOVE not being attached to the phone while on the treadmill.
First mile down. What was I doing while on the treadmill? Watching Monday night’s episode of Castle, entitled The Wild Rover. There are banks of TVs at Planet Fitness, but I prefer watching something on my own. The iPhone screen is a little small, but it works for me. This way I can also take pictures to Instagram or Tweet while I am working out.
Halfway there. Leg was still feeling pretty good at this point. I RARELY walk this long on a treadmill, I am usually outside. I see why so many people detest the treadmill. It does get boring.
2.1 miles down and one mile to go! Once Castle finished, I turned on a playlist I had created for 5Ks and listened to some tunes. The worst part came around mile 2.5. The guy got on the treadmill next to me and he had terrible gas. I actually increased my speed some to try to finish faster.
FINISHED!!! 3.1 miles in the book. The Jelly Bean Virtual 5K was complete!

After I finished, I enjoyed the massage chair at Planet Fitness, then headed to pick up dinner for hubby and myself. The rest of the evening was quite relaxing.
