Are you that person? You know – the one who is asked to bring soft drinks/water or paper products/utensils to parties/gatherings? I am certainly that person. My friends and family know my track record in the kitchen. Let’s review for those of you just joining us.
Things I can cook:
- Eggs – mainly scrambled or hard boiled
- Pan roasted potatoes
- A filet to medium rare (assuming someone starts the grill for me)
Even with these few offerings, there are often smoke detectors going off and/or setting utensils and oven mitts on fire.
When I heard about Bush’s new Hummus Made Easy, I knew I had to try it! Hummus and veggies are one of my favorite healthy snacks.
Let’s talk about how making your own hummus is now as easy as 1 – 2 – 3 !!!
YOU CAN DO IT IN A BLENDER!!! I can pretty much do anything if I can use our blender. Okay, full disclosure. In the first few years of our marriage, I went through 10 (i.e., I BROKE THEM) blenders. Hubby wound up buying me a very expensive commercial quality blender and it has lived for over 10 years now! You can also make the hummus in a food processor.
Head to your closest Walmart and pick up TWO products – your favorite flavor of Bush’s Hummus Made Easy and . . .
. . . your favorite type of Bush’s Beans!
In case you can’t read my total – it was $3.10! Super inexpensive as well as easy.
1st step – DRAIN! Make sure to drain whatever kind of beans you bought very well. Don’t skip this step!
2nd step – BLEND! Put your drained beans and the packet of Hummus Made Easy in your blender and blend! I use the lowest setting on mine for the perfect consistency.
3rd step – SERVE! I used Bush’s Reduced Sodium Garbanzo Beans and the Bush’s Classic Hummus Made Easy for this classic hummus and topped with a bit of minced garlic. I served with some celery, carrots, and pretzels. Just call me Chef G!
I also made Bush’s Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Made Easy with some Paprika sprinkled on top. There are so many different combinations you can do and you can make it as fancy as you want with added toppings.

Where and when did I serve all this hummus? At our Mother’s Day luncheon on Sunday for my mom and my hubby’s mom. Hummus with pretzels, hummus with veggies, and some brie and crackers made the perfect outdoor appetizers to start our wonderful luncheon. Super easy to make and super easy to setup. Everyone loved the hummus (although I will say the roasted red pepper hummus is definitely spicy!).
Here I am with my creation! Now I will be quick to volunteer to bring something to events and gatherings.
Some facts you might want to know: “All BUSH’S® canned bean products are gluten-free. We do use corn starch in some of our products, but it does not contain gliadin gluten from wheat, barley, oats or rye grains, which may cause adverse responses in people suffering from Celiac Sprue. In addition, any vinegar used in our canned bean products is corn-based and distilled. All flavors of our Hummus Made Easy are gluten-free.”
As you know, I do carb cycling and intermittent fasting. This hummus will be a great addition to regular calorie day and Feast days, but not low-carb or low-calorie day. You could use hummus on your sandwiches, wraps, for dipping, and so many more options.
