Fitness Facts & Tips: Finding Time for Fitness

Here is the 4th in my Fitness Facts & Tips series. You can see the whole series HERE.

Time For Fitness

FACT: You can find time for fitness.

This is certainly a timely post as our lives usually get much busier during the holiday season. It is sometimes hard to find the time to go to the gym, change into workout clothes, workout for 30-60 minutes, change into party wear, and then head to a Christmas party.

Realize that maybe 6 trips to the gym each week during December isn’t going to work. Instead, grab your calendar and schedule in your gym workouts along with your parties and events. Maybe try to make it to the gym 3 times per week during December. Then on the other days, try to find time for activity wherever you happen to be.

Realize every workout doesn’t have to be an hour or super intense. Try a yoga video/DVD. Find a neighborhood (that is safe for walking) and enjoy their Christmas lights on foot. Do squats while waiting in line at stores.

Some tips:

Think multi-tasking! Walk to the grocery store or bank or make family time something active.

Too cold in your area for outdoor activities? Try indoor ice-skating or a trampoline park!

Never leave your office? Schedule some walking meetings. Don’t forget that exercise can boost your brainpower. Maybe you will come up with some new products or services to sell.

Have 10 minutes? 20 minutes? 30 minutes? All of these can be an effective workout. Search Pinterest for the amount of time you have and you are sure to find many workouts.

And remember – something is ALWAYS better than nothing. Even a 15 minute walk can leave you with more energy and a sense of accomplishment.

How do you find time for exercise during the busy holiday season or anytime of the year?

Have a healthy day!
