Today’s post is the 7th in my Fitness Facts & Tips series. You can see the whole series HERE.
FACT: Fitness Strengthens Your Heart.
Throughout the series we have talked about how exercise is beneficial in many areas of our lives. But did you know that fitness helps create a stronger heart? That’s right – fitness/exercise/activity (whatever you want to call it) – can help strength your heart – which is the most important muscle in your body.
By creating a stronger heart, daily activities and tasks will feel and be easier for you. These can include walking up stairs, carrying in groceries, carrying your toddler, etc.
As you strengthen your heart, your heart rate becomes lower – therefore you are not spending the same amount of effort on tasks as you had been.
Good news! It doesn’t take a year or two to start seeing results. Even after a couple of days of starting a fitness program you will start strengthening your heart. How fantastic is that! There is no reason NOT to start some kind of physical activity today.
Walking – walking is a fabulous way to get started. According to the American Heart Association, “Walking is the simplest positive change you can make to improve your heart health.”
Remember that three 10 minute segments of exercise works just as well as a 30 minute block of time.
Try something new! Never tried Zumba, yoga, Core Barre, spinning? Make your January resolution to try 1 new activity each month.
Get the whole family involved – from kids on up. Strengthening the heart is good for the whole family!
What daily activities in your life would you like to feel easier?
Have a healthy day!
