Color Me Rad is Coming To Town!

Was running or walking one of your New Year’s resolutions? It was for me. I have committed to walk 13 5Ks during 2013. Here is one race I will definitely be walking: COLOR ME RAD!

I could not be more excited that Color Me Rad is coming back to Knoxville. Some important dates to know: Registration opens January 9th (just a few days away) and the race is April 6th. If you want to run/walk this race, I encourage you to register early. Color Me Rad sells out most of their events – and there is a reason for that. THEY ARE A BLAST!

Color Me Rad vs The Color Run

So, if you sign up on January 9th and the race is April 6th, you will have 12 weeks to prepare. That’s right TWELVE WEEKS. Check out this 5K Beginner Training Plan from the Running Times. It is based on twelve weeks. As always, check with your doctor first. But if they give you the go ahead, this could be the program for you.

I, of course, am doing the recovery plan adding 1/4 mile to my walk each week. I will be able to walk full 5Ks in early March. So the timing of Color Me Rad is perfect.

This is truly a FUN run/walk. It is not timed, you use own watch if you want to know. The race starts in waves which is beneficial at the color stations. Want a lot of color? Spend extra time in the color station. Not real sure about this color thing? Walk down the middle of the color station. This is what I looked like after the race:

One thing I MUST do before the race? GET ANOTHER TUTU!!!! My amazing cousin L made me one before The Color Run and I have ideas for a new one. She mainly does fabulous children’s and household items. You can check out her Etsy store here.

Don’t live in Knoxville? Color Me Rad visits DOZENS of cities. Click HERE to see all of their locations (don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom for even more). One thing I like about Color Me Rad is that each race benefits a LOCAL charity. For Knoxville it is the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

Have you done the Color Me Rad? Is there one coming to your city?

Congrats to Anne W. who was the winner of the Weight Watchers by Conair Digital Scale. She has been notified by email.

Enjoy your day!

  1. I was pretty happy to stumble across a post that mentioned color me rad. I decided to check them out and see they do have a race in my state. Not exactly conveniently located, will have to travel and stay overnight, but I’m totally doing it anyways 🙂 It looks like so much fun!

Have fun Susan! Be sure and take towels and blankets for after the race. You will want to wipe yourself off and protect your car. Enjoy!
