Saturday post coming later than normal. WHY? I got up at 5AM, got ready, and headed to the Calhouns 10-Miler at Calhouns in Lenoir City to watch hubby run. Look at the sun coming up over the marina. It really was a beautiful, although chilly, morning.
Hubby and I arrived, dumped the car on the side of the road (with TONS of other people) and hiked down to the restaurant. While he stood in the very long line for the bathrooms, I went and picked up his bib, chip, and shirt. Pre-registeration was very quick and organized, which is the norm for a KTC (Knoxville Track Club) sponsored race.
We didn’t have too terribly long before it was time for the participants to line up.
Sadly, I would have had more pictures, but my camera decided to act up this morning. J, our friend who came with me to cheer, thought the cold might be affecting it. I had some action shots of the runners starting, but the camera didn’t save them.
This race was sponsored by Calhouns:
Once the runners left, we had about 50 minutes before they would start returning. I grabbed J and his friend N for a little cardio. Figured why not get my workout in as well. We walked around for about 34 minutes. It was definitely cold out there this morning. We did have the option of waiting inside in Calhouns, but choose to walk and enjoy the fresh air instead. Here are a few pictures that managed to take during the walk:
Around 53 minutes, here came….
Official results aren’t up so I don’t know the winner’s name or time, but that is a little over a 5:00 minute per mile pace. WOW!
Great to see all the runners finishing. I love cheering. My only pet peeve for this race is that it finished in a parking lot and cars are free to come and go. Some runners really had to dodge the cars. One guy actually ran the entire 10 mile race BAREFOOT. Yikes.
Hubby did awesome coming in around 1:32:30. This was his first time running this race. He is definitely up for running it again. After breakfast with our friends, it was time to come home and rest. While he ran the 10 miles, I feel like I got hit by a bus. Taking this weekend to just rest and relax.
Today’s talking point: What’s the longest race you have walked/run?
