Breaking in New Shoes

Today was the kick-off of the KTC Walking Program at our YMCA Farragut location. I bought new shoes – Reebok Easytone – this past Friday and decided it was time to break them in.

My new Reebok Easytone Walking Shoes

Note: I bought a pair of these shoes last November and they lasted approx. 4 months before the bubble “toning part on bottom” burst. At that time, Dick’s Sporting Goods offered a No Sweat Protection Plan if your shoes failed within a year. They no longer offer this program so hopefully my last pair was just defective and these will last much longer. I have been without toning shoes for about 6-8 weeks and can certainly tell the difference when I walk.

I could certainly tell these were new shoes and different from the walking shoes I have been wearing the past 2 months. The course that the walking program leader decided on was straight uphill for the first quarter of a mile (or more).

Needless to say, by the time I reached the top of the hill, my shins were hurting. A mile into the walk I had lost feeling in my left foot. So, I cut the walk short at 1.6 miles.

The neighborhood we are walking through is beautiful.  Huge, gorgeous houses on the lake.  Here is my favorite:

Just gorgeous! Maybe if I win the lottery!

That’s all for today. Check back with you tomorrow.

  1. If I follow you daily, maybe I’ll get encouraged to get back walking! I use to walk on my treadmill, but stopped.

Looking forward to reading more of your blog. 🙂

  2. Do you have any suggestions for the best socks to wear with your walking shoes?
