Bored With Your Workouts? Break It Up.

Do you ever get bored with your workouts? Either day-to-day or the during the same workout? Lately I have been. Even my hour-long yoga classes that I LOVE sometimes get on my nerves. I am craving more and more variety in my workouts.

Bored With Your Workouts?

The solution:

Break your workout up into smaller chunks of different activities.

For example, you have 30 minutes for a workout. You could do kettlebells for 10 minutes, bike for 10 minutes, and do yoga for 10 minutes. You can either do those back to back or throughout the day as you find 10 minute chunks.

Maybe you have 20 minutes. You could break that into four mini 5 minute workouts. Maybe arm exercises for the first 5. Running the next. Leg exercises the third 5. Yoga for the final 5. Again, this can be in a twenty-minute block or scattered throughout the day.

Even 60 minutes can be broken up in numerous ways. Three 20 minute segments. Six 10 minute segments. Four 15 minute segments.

It is always great to vary your routine as your body becomes used to certain activities if you do them often enough. Plus, trying new things can be fun and challenging to your body.

Wondering where to find all the different activities? Search Youtube for videos. Subscribe to an online service like Gaiam, DailyBurn, or FitnessGlo. And coming soon I have a guide to 26 different activities you can try!

How do you keep your workouts exciting?

Cheers!

  1. Breaking up your workout is a great way to change things up. I love to do different things.. like strength training followed by yoga. It is nice to move in different ways ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Thanks for the reminder! Lately I can’t even bear the idea of getting on an elliptical for 30 minutes straight anymore. Gotta do circuits unless I’m out hiking or for a long run. Now you have me excited to hit the gym in a couple of hours…
