1. DRINK!

Drinking H2O is so important. Seriously. We have talked about hydrating before. If you start feeling thirsty, your body is already starting to dehydrate. You need at least 8 8oz glasses of water per day and even more in the summer. QUite possibly, unless you are making an effort, you are not getting enough water in.

2. SLEEP!

Betcha think sleep isn’t that important. But it is oh, so very important. Your body needs time to recover and repair itself EACH DAY. You need anywhere from 6 to 9 hours of sleep per night. The amount does vary from person to person and only you can know what is best for YOU! If you are feeling sluggish, need frequent naps, or feel tired all the time, you are probably not getting enough sleep.

EASY LIFESTYLE TIP: Not getting enough sleep? Start by going to bed half hour earlier each night (even on the weekends).

3. MOVE!

The American Heart Association recommendations 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. While I love walking, the elliptical, and weight training, there are a gazillion activities you can do. This can also be things like – taking the stairs, parking farther away, doing laps around your office during breaks, doing squats while you talk on the phone. It all adds up!

EASY LIFESTYLE TIP: Not getting enough activity? Try adding a 15-minute walk twice a day to your routine.

4. EAT!

Make sure you are fueling your body properly throughout the day. Aim for lean proteins, veggies, and fruit. Listen to your body, if you are hungry, eat. If you get hungry again in a couple of hours, you probably didn’t eat enough, eat something else. You might even try tracking your food with an app like MyFitnessPal.

  1. These are all such great tips. They seem like they’re common sense but I know a ton of people who need reminders. I’ve never heard of New Chapter supplements so I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Such simple tips but they mean so much! My favorite tip is balance – don’t restrict yourself or go to any extremes. it’ll make it that much harder!

  3. Great advice, I know how important sleep is but no matter what I do (and I’ve tried everything aside from Rx sleep aides) I just can’t sleep more than about 5 hours. So I try to take naps when I can and that seems to help a bit. It’s still frustrating because I know how important it is and feel like It’s really hindered my progress/goals.
