The Man Run Knoxville 2012 Recap

We were up bright and early (although technically it was still dark) to get ready for The Man Run. This was the 5th annual year for The Man Run which supports prostate cancer awareness. This is our third year participating. We were fortunate that our friend J picked up our packets early, so we didn’t have to rush.

Hubby was running the 10K, our friend J was doing the 5K, and I decided to walk the 1 mile fun run. With my calves still giving me fits, I decided on the 1 mile since I knew the 5K was super hilly. On a side note, my OB/GYN yesterday said my muscles looked inflamed. I did some research today and found three separate sources recommending Vitamin C for that. So, as of a few minutes ago, I have added Vitamin C to the supplements I take on a daily basis. I also made a note to call my general doctor and get a referral to a specialist. Back to the race.

Here are a couple of pictures of me from before the race:

Pretty sure the balloons were done by Above the Rest. LOVE them!

The bagpipes were playing Rocky Top!

The band played on:

Love the water:

They started all three distances at the same time going the same way. Not sure that was the best idea, but I guess it turned out okay. I will say the mile turnaround was clearly marked. Hubby’s garmin only showed a distance of 5.76 for the 10K (6.2). There is short and then there is SHORT!

Always a fun time for a great cause! Wearing my t-shirt from the race right now. Here is the design:

Enjoy your weekend!

My hubby and I also did the 10k. Our Garmins read 5.71 and 5.78. Was very much shorted. However, with much more of those hills, I don’t know how well we would have finished! I would compare this course difficulty (not distance) to the Covenant Half Marathon course. It was a tough one. So a huge congratulations to everyone who completed this, regardless of which distance you finished!

  2. Do you know if they post official race results? If so, would you please share the link? My husband ran the 5k and we’d love to see his official time :)
