Goals, ToDos, Resolutions – 12 for 2012

Good morning and happy 2nd day of 2012! Yesterday started with a New Year’s Day 5K. Great crowd of 800 started their new year out with a 3.1 mile run or walk. LOVE seeing all the walkers out there. My unofficial time is 51:19. One thing I learned during the race is that I am ready for some new shoes. My feet and ankles HURT today. Looking at the tread on my shoes, yep, its time.

Goals, ToDos, Resolutions. Whatever you want to call them. Here are mine for 2012. Some household, some personal, some professional. Some very specific, some general.

1 – Reduce spending by using up items we have before buying others. For example, I have plenty of hand and body lotions from Bath & Body. I should use them ALL up before buying others.

2 – Donate old/unwanted clothes/household items to KARM or Goodwill. To goal is to help me get rid of some of the boxes in our bonus (read: storage) room. I have a lot of clothes that could be donated, I just need to go through them.

3 – Complete a race longer than a 5K. I have actually signed up for a 4 mile trail race in January, so this could be completed soon.

4 – Save 10-15% of each paycheck. Now that I am back working full-time in a fairly stable job, time to start the savings again.

5 – Try CrossFit and Spinning (at least once each). CrossFit scares the crap out of me, Spinning sounds kind of fun.

6 – Become Google AdWords certified. Professional goal to help with my job.

7 – Learn to cook one meal per season. As you know, I am not a cook. I would like to learn to cook one complete meal (edible and healthy) each season.

8 – Walk/Bike/Elliptical at least 500 miles. Last year I completed 450+, so I am adding 10% to that number.

9 – Utilize craft room (make handmade cards, gifts, etc). Now that all the boxes are back in the bonus room, my craft room is free and Pinterest has some fabulous ideas!

10 – Blog at least 5 times per week. For January, I have entered a challenge to do 31 posts in 31 days. There will be times I miss a day or two, but I want to be consistent with my blogging.

11 – At least 1 – 5 day vacation and 2 weekend getaways. It has been 2 years since our last vacation. I am ready to get out of town.

12 – Continue all goals to become healthy and get to feel great weight. These include logging what I eat on a regular basis, following my online personal trainer’s plans, and more.

  1. Wow, you have some great goals for 2012! I’m not a runner so I am so impressed with accomplishments in that area. I do know how to cook so I could help in that area. lol. Here is to a great 2012!

      Thanks Shawn! Do you have a quick and easy recipe for a shrimp dinner (that is also healthy)? We both LOVE shrimp.

  2. Great way to start the New Year is to plan ahead. I’m sure you’ll be able to make all your goals and deadlines. Your “Saving 10%-15% of every paycheck” goal, is a very good idea. I think I wouldn’t miss such a small percentage, and I need to do some savings as well. Best of luck this year and hope to read more soon :D

  4. I love these resolutions! Seriously, i should just adopt them all ;)

    I have been working on number one and two myself the past few months, but i should really focus on that one more myself! I’m all about trying to declutter and stop being so darn materialistic!!

  5. A friend turned me to your blog after seeing that one of your new year’s goals is to try CrossFit. I own CrossFit Ktown and would love to have a chat with you about your fear of CrossFit. :) I assure you that you are not alone, but people are scared of most activities they don’t totally understand.   6. These are great! Way to set goals everyone! Keep up the good work and have someone to enjoy this with! Accountability partners are great for setting goals, and you will have someone to do this with!
